Bust of Robert Hovenden

The surface of the bust was heavily soiled and in some areas the paint was fragile. The treatment required cleaning as well as consolidation of fragile areas of polychromy. All of the original paint was preserved on this wonderful medieval bust which is a rare example of a medieval sculpture containing original polychromy.
